English identification: The Lebanese International Theater Festival for Storytelling aims to preserve the oral heritage, tradition, identity, and art of storytelling as well as pass it on to future generations. This festival is considered an artistic rally for experience exchange and different traditional practices among diverse countries. It also highlights the importance of the classical Arabic language and preserving it and revitalizing traditional storytelling and heritage so that it can be accessible for generations.

The first edition of the festival was held at the Lebanese National Theater in Tyre in 2019. This was concurrently with the "Storytelling Cafeteria," which is a space that gathers storytellers for experiences and knowledge exchange and urges the latter to document their stories at UNESCO as an oral heritage. In addition to this, similar performances took place at public spaces and libraries targeting school students, and this was to highlight the importance of perusing and narrating traditional stories and biographies from bygone ages. Children also had the chance to enroll in artistic training workshops on how to self-compose stories; vocal and physical training; engagement with the audience; and choice of clothing which is suitable for storytelling; that is, by the supervision of specialists, trainees, and storytellers.

As for the second edition, it was held under the slogan "Salute to Beirut" in 2019. On-site participation included Lebanese storytellers, whereas the online participation included participants from France, Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Palestine, Oman, and Greece. In addition to this, the Lebanese Theater seminar was held to discuss the importance of oral heritage and to implement artistic training workshops for children on how to self-compose stories, performance training, perusing, and narrating traditional stories.

In 2021, the third edition was held under the slogan "Salute from Tyre to Tripoli," in which 35 storytellers from Lebanon and Arab countries participated. France, Greece, and Spain were the countries who participated online.

For the first time, this festival was held in the Lebanese National Theater in Tripoli in 2022 for its fourth edition. Participation included different Arabian countries: Algeria, Tunisia, Bahrain, Palestine, Morocco, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon. In addition to this, a seminar entitled “The Role of Virtual Digital Media in the Valorization of Oral Heritage,” a tour in the old city’s neighborhoods and souks with a mobile story being told, and a tour to schools in Tripoli took place.

As for the fifth edition, it took place at the Lebanese National Theater in Tyre and Tripoli in 2023 under the slogan “Personal and Memorial Stories,” including the participation of Arab and foreign storytellers. It also included honoring Antoine and Latifa Moultaka, as well as the Lebanese actor Nicolas Daniel.

Noting that the Lebanese International Theater Festival for Storytelling’s sixth edition will be held in October 2024.

يهدف المهرجان الى الحفاظ على الموروث الشّفويّ والمحافظة على التّراث والهُوِيّة والفنّ الحكواتي والعمل على نقله للأجيال. يعدُّ المهرجان تظاهرة فنيّة لتبادل تجارب وممارسات تراثيّة مختلفة بين بلدان عدّة، كما يسلّط الضّوء على أهميّة اللّغة العربيّة الفصحى في الوطن العربيّ والحفاظ عليها وإعادة إحياء فنّ الحكاية الشعبيّة والتراث الشعبيّ ليكون في متناول الأجيال.

أُطلقت الدّورة الأولى لمهرجان لبنان المسرّحيّ الدّوليّ للحكواتي عام ٢٠١٩ من المسرح الوطنيّ اللّبنانيّ في مدينة صور بالتّزامن مع "مقهى للحكاية"، وهو عبارة عن مساحة تجمع الحكّائين ببعضهم البعض لتبادل التّجارب ونقل المعارف وحثّ الرُّواة على ضرورة تسجيل قصصهم الشعبيّة لدى منظّمة اليونيسكو كتراث شفهي. كما أقيمت عروض موازية لطلّاب المدارس وفي السّاحات والمكتبات العامّة تسلّط الضّوء على المطالعة وسرد القصّص التّقليديّة ورواية السّير الشعبيّة من الزّمن القديم، بالإضافة الى إقامة ورش للأطفال حول تأليف حكايات من إنتاجهم الخاص وتدريبهم على الصّوت والأداء وكيفيّة الالتفات إلى الجمهور وعلى الملابس الملائمة لفنّ مسرح الحكّائين بإشراف مدرّبين وحكّائين محترفين.

كما انطلقت الدّورة الثّانية تحت شعار "تحيّة الى بيروت" عام ٢٠١٩ بمشاركة الحكّائين اللّبنانيين للعروض المباشرة والحكّائين من الخارج للعروض عبر الإنترنت من فرنسا ومصر والمغرب والجزائر وتونس وفلسطين وسلطنة عمان واليونان. كما وأقيم مؤتمر لبنان المسرحيّ الذي ناقش أهميّة الموروث الشفهيّ، بالإضافة إلى إقامة ورش للأطفال حول تأليف حكايات من إنتاجهم الخاص وتدريبهم على الأداء والمطالعة وسرد القصص التقليديّة

أما الدّورة الثّالثة، فانطلقت عام ٢٠٢١ تحت شعار "تحيّة من صور إلى طرابلس" وذلك بمشاركة ٣٥ حكواتيًا من لبنان والعالم العربيّ وفرنسا واليونان وإسبانيا للعروض عبر الإنترنت.

وأطلقت الدّورة الرّابعة من مهرجان لبنان المسرّحيّ الدّوليّ للحكواتي عام ٢٠٢٢ في المسرح الوطنيّ اللّبنانيّ في مدينة طرابلس لأوّل مرّة، وذلك بمشاركة مختلف الدّول العربيّة مثل الجزائر وتونس والبحرين وفلسطين والمغرب ومصر وسوريا ولبنان. بالإضافة الى هذا، أقيمت ندوة تحت عنوان "دور الإعلام الافتراضيّ الرّقميّ في تثمين التّراث الشّفوي" وجولة في أحياء وأسواق المدينة القديمة مع حكاية متنقّلة وجولة على عددٍ من المدارس في مدينة طرابلس

وانطلقت الدّورة الخامسة من المهرجان في المسرح الوطنيّ اللبناني في مدينتي صور وطرابلس عام ٢٠٢٣، تحت شعار "حكايات النّاس والذّاكرة" بمشاركة الحكّائين العرب والأجانب. وكرّمت هذه الدورة انطوان ولطيفة ملتقى والممثّل اللّبنانيّ نقولا دانيال.

وستقام الدّورة السّادسة من المهرجان في خلال شهر تشرين الأوّل/أكتوبر ٢٠٢٤.
